September was full of fashion world  and the fashion fall 2011 Fall Holiday 2011 Show at Performance Works in Granville Island was one of the highlights.  Angus has always marched to her own  drummer, offering her loyal customers and the fashion world a different take and this show was no exception. Her loyalty is first and foremost to the REAL women who are her clients and she always caters her evening to celebrate who they are - just the way they are.

wine, shop at the pop-up booth, mix and mingle and purchase tickets to the charity raffle.  When it was time for the fashion show,  everyone eagerly took their seats.  The show was a surprise!  Angus' original line was high end women's wear; then came the button wrap shawl.  This unique and versatile design that can be fashion world   truly took over and became the largest part of her collection for the last few years. Shawls are offered in several fabrics and some printed with original artwork by renown Haida artist Clarence Mills.

The surprise this season was the return to her roots, but with a twist.  While the shawls were still a presence on the runway, she has broadened her line of casual and very wearable knit separates that are so suitable to our fashion world .  Then came the unexpected!  A line of flirty and sexy dresses.  In the past Angus' high end women's wear was definitely more structured and conservative, but this season saw a few low necklines and exposed backs.  I was particularly enchanted by one that looked very 40's inspired in a beautiful, slinky silk.  Best of all, garment were showcased on a wide variety of bodies from model-like slim to oh-so-curvy, from young and pregnant to mature - the full gamut.  The common theme, the models enjoyed who they were and carried that confidence down the runway.  It was easy for those of us in the audience without that size 0 boy figure to picture ourselves in the garments and figure out which would work for us.

The evening also had a charity focus. fashion world  Angus partnered with the fashion fall 2011 in China.  Founded in 2005, this organization has sponsored 286 young women from impoverished rural areas of Gansu Province in Northwest China to receive a university education.  Currently there are 170 students in their program.
